✨ About Ilarion

Ilarion Deórsa Ramiel Earthdream

Species: selunari
Class: templar ⁽ᴬᴿᴮ ¹·³⁾ / spellsword ⁽ᴬᴿᴮ ²·⁰⁾
Gender: male

Ilarion was born on 31 Gustar, 10586 ᴇʀ, to the Deórsa clan of selunari, whose caravan travelled primarily through County of Dwarfhome in the Kingdom of Dragonreach. His parents, Dumitru and Alina, gave him the ancestor-name of Ramiel, Bearer of Hope.

Throughout his childhood Ilarion always had a special fondness for animals.

On his thirteenth birthday in 10589 ᴇʀ, Ilarion was gifted with a set of blades made by the clan's fierări, a dagger and shortsword both engraved in the shape of the Apis constellation with kishaj, a phosphorescent sand-like grain used in stonecrafting to represent sela. Though the Deórsa rarely bothered naming their weapons, Ilarion called them Dszeni ("stinger") and Çerhêni ("starlight").

Ilarion's manmaking was done on the eve of his fourth lustre, 4 Brumar, 10901 ᴇʀ (1 ᴀꜰᴅ). Very late that winter, he decided to leave the Deórsa caravan and journey into the Unhindered Lands, a mostly wild and ungoverned region on the eastern border of Kundrik. He spent the spring studying with the caravan's marmosi enough sword lessons to defend himself properly, as well as with the toktari who handled the medical concerns of the caravan so he could learn to treat his own wounds. Then in the summer before his sixteenth birthday, he set out on his own eastward from the Barony of Dorburn.

On 12 Prier, 10613 ᴇʀ (13 ᴀꜰᴅ), Ilarion witnessed a sleuth of bearscorpions leaving behind a damaged member. The young bearscorpion had just undergone its second ecdysis (moult) but sclerotisation was being delayed and in the process its soft tail and two of its rear legs had been crushed. Ilarion was able to slowly gain its trust after the rest of the sleuth moved on and hypothesised that a blood infection of some kind was preventing the body from crossing its proteins and hardening the skin.

Not being classically trained in medicine or veterinary work, Ilarion had to slowly piece together how he might help the young bearscorpion, who he named Leander, and eventually was able to coax the necessary biological response to harden the skin after setting a series of splints for the crushed limbs to heal within. By Leander's fifth moult in Undrea 10617 (17 ᴀꜰᴅ) the bearscorpion's limbs and tail had fully regrown to a healthy shape but was complicated by an infection of necrotic vitiligo in the stinger, which Ilarion continued to treat until Leander was finally fulled healed, and released to another nearby sleuth on 22 Mărțișor 10618 (18 ᴀꜰᴅ).

At the same time Ilarion headed back toward Dorburne and took a waystone first to Valbridge then Springdale, where he reunited with his distant cousin Ardos Irani among a band of Dragonreach's adventurers. Despite falling to myconids while battling alongside Ardos, the valkyrie oathsworn Sloane was in their company and was able to resurrect Ilarion without an earth circle, after which Ilarion fell in with the adventuring community.

He briefly resided in Bregsmourn with Ardos for five nundines until he took a position as a Guardian of the Earth Healers' Guild of Koroshi under guildmistress Avacyn Ironrose, Ardos' adoptive mother of sorts. A stay of one piszot in a tent outside Valbrough was brought to an end by a Vornae attack on the city, after which Ilarion retreated to the nearby capital city of Onothera, and began residing in the Kyngeshead inn when not attending the earth guild or his "aunt" Avacyn.

During his brief tenure in Valbrough, Ilarion heard of and was contacted by a respresentative of the separatist society known as the Whisperers, a group of people from several races so in-tune with the taming of animals that they seemingly became an extension of their will, said to live in the northern Unhindered Lands near the Lake of Sighs. The dryad Bristle had heard of Ilarion through birds that had been in contact with the bearscorpion Ilarion called "Leander" and knew that the selunari was someone who could easily learn their art.

Under Bristle's tutelage Ilarion began to learn to hear and access the all-fauna connexion, similar to the sela connexion between selunari, and with time began to be able to initiate simple communication and alliance with some animals. Ilarion used this skill in conjunction with the animal healing and limited herbal knowledge he had picked up, to run an informal veterinary and taming clinic between Onothera and Valbrough.

During the elemental maelstrom in the late summer and early fall of 10618 (18 ᴀꜰᴅ), Ilarion's training with the all-fauna was interrupted during a communicative exercise and he was attacked by a bear, scarring not only his body but also his spirit. As a result his face has been scarred and he has lost most of the vision in his left eye, which resists being cured by any potion or magic.

As part of his initiation into the philanthropic gang called Moonless Nights a few months later, Ilarion crossed the sea (poorly) and participated in the clearing of an Armanthian ruin in the island nation of Kalinthas, where he also made the acquaintances of the werebear Zane Al'Vera and the duellist elf Link, who would later suggest to Ilarion that he train with Zane's Slayers against the forces of chaos and the undead in exchange for additional dual wielding lessons.

2019 LARP Season

Ilarion spent much of the winter in Kingsmoore in the Moonless Nights' homeless shelter, where he supplemented the residents' somewhat meager food stores with the assistance of the animals with whom he spoke regularly.
